Today the 7th billion member of humanity was born. The population of the world hit 7 billion. One more time: there are 7 billion people on the planet.
Instead of freaking out and assuming the end of the world is near, let's welcome the 7th billion person as a person, not a liability.

Hello everyone! Thank you for viewing my blog. I'd like to have some guidelines for commenting, because it's very easy to get nasty on the internet without meaning to. I encourage you to comment, just remember one thing: I am a human being. I make mistakes, and I have feelings. That goes for me and all other commenters and readers and human beings. I encourage asking questions, as long as it's done respectfully.
Now please, comment away and enjoy my blog!

Being the somewhat cynical person that I am, I can't believe "they" have counted every human on the planet. We probably hit the 7 million mark years ago, and "they" never knew it. Wouldn't that be funny?
ReplyDeleteJenniferF,
ReplyDeleteThe thought occurred to me. But, since this is the coolest thing demographers get to do, I thought I'd give it to them ;)
Haha, this kind of seemed weird to me too. I mean, people die every day too...it's not like people just get born. But then, it probably takes a while to count 7 billion people, so who knows...
ReplyDeleteHaha...
